First of all, it’s been a long time since I posted something, actually it took something special to trigger this post (special treatment from others). It’s about people/companies that want to sell you something and know how to do it.
I knew that USA was the place where people know how to sell you things, and actually I had the chance of finding out how they do it. I once posted on my Facebook page about how a waitress can make you feel special and how that led to a very good tip for her.
During my stay in California I saw how people from here are able to sell you stuff that you don’t have on your short list. One of this experiences took place at Gilroy Premium Outlets (http://www.premiumoutlets.com). I entered in a shop with a friend and just looked around, one of the sellers saw my camera hanging at my neck and asked me where I’m from and if I need any help. After telling him I’m from Romania, he started asking me more about Romania, about the currency, then asked me what am I doing for a living, offered to give me a map of Gilroy Mall, and told me that if I need anything, he is eager to help. So after all this I went out of the shop, of course, with a bag full of stuff I bought from that shop.
So I have a recommendation for everybody that has a shop or sells something: Make your customer feel special, for instance, I just received 2 emails from websites that wished me happy birthday, one of them even offered me a 3% discount for my birthday (I know it’s not much, but the gesture matters). If you’re a waiter/waitress, don’t forget to care about your customers, smile at them, ask if everything is ok, you can just grab a pen and draw a smiley face on the bill, do something to show your customer he is special for you and you won’t regret it.
